A Lazy Sunday

So, Jake and I had our first day off together in three weeks. The last day off we had was the weekend of our wedding. The result: I have a new friend for my desk- a beta fish names Mr. Cooper, a fully functioning iPad, a pile of work that I promised myself that I would do at home, yet didn't, and an enriched movie education. I am also pruned of myself in that fact that I have started to OCD on the Food Network. Everyone knows that cooking and Kristi do not play nicely in the sandbox, but I have attempted to mend the friendship. I think that my frustration comes from two aspects: 1. a lack of a sophisticated pallet, and 2. a lack of creativity. How many ways can you make a hotdog interesting? And the thought of smoked this with a hint of minced that absolutely disgusts me. According to Giada DiLaurentis, its all about presentation and texture... well, I don't mean to be rude, but texture... I don't want to be reminded of texture when I am getting rid of hunger. Its like cotton candy- I cannot physically eat cotton candy because its like munching on a towel. Ugh. Anyways, I am trying to put forth the effort for the sake of my husband. I have struggled thus far being a carb-ivore, but I am slowing expanding. I have decided to start with sweets. I made chocolate truffles from my new favorite show, 5 Ingredient Fix... honestly, 5 Ingredients!!! Where has this show been all my life!? Since my new hobby has evolved, I have made:
Meme's chicken salad
Meme's potato salad minus the bacon (I was later hazed for this)
Chocolate truffles
Kristi's spin on Meme's potato salad (I forgot to add mustard)
Kraft's $0.87 macaroni and cheese.
Its just the beginning and I am determined not to live off of macaroni and cheese. Just as an FYI- macaroni and cheese was invented for working people, I am sure of it.
Jake and I are going home to surprise the grandparents and parents for the Bears/Packer game tonight. We decided over lunch that it is rude of us to disappear for months at a time after the wedding... so we need to spend quality time with the family. So we are packing the dog up and headed to the homefront. Darn, still need to get the work done. Yipe!
